INVITATION

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the Organizing Committee of the Symposium, I would like to extend our cordial welcome to all of you to join us in the forthcoming 8th International Symposium on Sjogren's Syndrome (ISSS) in Kanazawa, Japan from May 16 through 18, 2002. The Symposium will be held in conjunction with the 11th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Medical Society for Sjogren's Syndrome and the 21st Meeting of the Dry Eye Research Group in Japan.

This is the second occasion that Japan will host the Symposium. Since the 4th ISSS held in Tokyo, 1993, enormous strides have been made in understanding molecular, biochemical, immunological and pathophysiological aspects of Sjogren's syndrome. The 8th ISSS aims at summarizing the latest advances we have witnessed during these years and conveying our hope for further progress in the 21st century encompassing basic research, pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of Sjogren's syndrome.
We are very much looking forward to having all of you in the City of Kanazawa in May, 2002.

Sincerely,

Susumu Sugai, M.D., Ph. D.
